The ambition of this exhibit has been to fuel people with energy for the purpose of channeling creative efforts into creating some real, positive, meaningful and lasting change for people worldwide. It is part of the growing artist contingent of the 99% movement. The exhibit includes actual handmade cardboard poster signs used at Occupy Ventura rallies and photos of those actions. Like the movement itself, the exhibit is grassroots in nature and with emphasis on free expression. The experience of true and direct democracy and the quest of finding and giving voice for the concerns of humanity is what motivates and is at the core of this exhibit.

There used to be a place in West Hollywood called Pandora’s Box, a great hangout for all ages. A refuge for free-thinkers. The closing of the club and the riots that occurred inspired Stephen Stills to write the song for What It’s Worth. The song rings true now for all of us as we sort through the machinations that our culture has created. Fight back against the machine, stay in love, stay real.

The only antiwar song to make our list was submitted by the band Grace Gravity. “War Against War” is a call to stop all fighting and turn instead to our compassionate natures.

We continue to sacrifice our kids for a war against a theoretical enemy. We ignore nuclear leaks and hunt Wikileaks. Infrastructures are disintegrating, yet construction jobs are scarce. We may be guaranteed the right to pursue happiness, but few have the time. Grace Gravity played a short set in support of Buffalo Field Campaign. These are the people on the front lines protecting and speaking up for the last wild buffalo herd in the United States. The Yellowstone herd is both genetically and behaviorally unique, being the only herd with continuously wild ancestry from the days when 50 million buffalo migrated freely across the Great Plains. At the end of the 19th century, after tens of millions had been slaughtered, only 23 wild buffalo survived. PLEASE contact your Representatives to make sure this herd has special status.

There used to be a place in West Hollywood called Pandora’s Box, a great hangout for all ages. A refuge for free-thinkers. The closing of the club and the riots that occurred inspired Stephen Stills to write the song for What It’s Worth. The song rings true now for all of us as we sort through the machinations that our culture has created. Fight back against the machine, stay in love, stay real.

I hope we can create a new place like this in Los Angeles. A place where people can communicate, share ideas, hear great music and feel free. It’s coming . . . I can feel it.

Icky’s Ego is the Avante-Garage rock collaboration of Los Angeles based musicians David Crocco and Cela Scott.
The pair spend their daylight hours sequestered in a castle in the Hollywood Hills with producer extraordinaire Brian David Hardin, investigating sonic landscapes and mental meltdowns.

David’s contributions include vocals, percussion, guitar, and keyboards.
Dave was born in Port Washington, NY, and lived in Hudson, OH until he was a teenager. He moved to Atlanta, GA with his rock band Tabula Rasa and toured the southeast, eventually settling in Tennessee to mix audio on Nashville’s prestigious music row. Dave’s talent as a mixer brought him to LA, where he now owns the post production audio company A.G.E. Post.

Cela supplies vocals and guitar. She grew up in Nashville, TN, fronting America’s first generation of eccentric home schooled children. She came to LA to attend USC’s school of theatre, and completed the program with a BFA. Recently, her focus has been in rock and roll music, the forbidden love she’d harbored during many childhood years spent touring with a classical children’s choir.

Their hard-hitting/ambient sound is rounded out by the talents of musicians Teri Hitt, Phil Brathwait, June Kato and DeAnn Dallas.

Some of Dave and Cela’s musical loves and influences are The Beatles, DJ Shadow, Bjork, Led Zeppelin, Prince, P. J. Harvey, Massive Attack, The Doors, Jeff Buckley, Beck, Public Enemy, Sigur Ross, David Bowie, The White Stripes, The Pretenders, The Police, and Pink Floyd…

…his name sounds like he should be running a Chevrolet dealership in Hogeye, Arkansas, but Bill Purdy is actually a damn fine singer/songwriter…The EP offers a seamless blend of soulful ballads and breezy up-tempo numbers, all of them anchored by Purdy’s keys – he plays piano, Wurlitzer, and B-3 here – and sandpaper-coated-in-honey vocals.
